Set 40646 Daffodils is the 4th entry to the “basics” Botanical Collection by LEGO with flowers such as Roses, Tulips and Sunflowers released in the past. Let’s take a look at the set.
LEGO have been changing their boxes to the black background for sets that are also targeted to the adults and this is no different. It gives a touch of maturity in contrast to the bright colours for LEGO City/Ninjago and the like. This has to be one of the smallest boxes in this design format though.
Unboxing the set reveals three bags of LEGO elements and an instruction manual.
Build process is pretty straightforward with the petals given their structure via the element below. It’s an element that we have not build with before but could already have been used in the City/Ninjago.
In all, 2 white daffodils and 2 yellow daffodils are build from this set. All 4 are identical in build steps.
As the stalks are built using several interlocking Technic pins/rods, you can easily customize the height of each flower to allow them to be arranged into your floral setup as you wish.
The flowers look great when viewed straight on but the view is less flattering when viewed from the side (as the grey connectors might be visible) or from the back as the connectors will be visible. Nonetheless, this is definitely a neat little set perfect for gifting or for home display.
We give the 40646 Daffodils set a tidy 4.5/5 rating! A perfect addition to the growing variety of floral builds in the botanical collection.
