Review of 80019 Red Son’s Inferno Jet
The Red Son is the son of Demon Bull King and Princess Iron Fan. In the classic text, through the orders of his father, Red Boy (红孩儿）was told to be the protector of the Fiery Mountains due to his supreme abilities when it came to fire, abilities he had cultivated for over 300 years. Red Boy had developed True Samādhi Fire (三昧眞火) which enables him to shoot fire inextinguishable by water and smoke from his eyes, nostrils and mouth.
Enough about the classics for now, this set is priced at USD34.99 with a parts count of 299 pieces alongside with 3 Minifigures. Let’s see what’s inside this set.
The front of the box features a red fiery jet with horns and the ability to shoot out projectiles. There is a small mountain with a mini fountain at the bottom left corner of the box. There is a slot to put on the monkey king’s staff which indicates that this is the actual mountain that trapped the Demon Bull King in the cartoon. So I suppose this set is a mission to rescue the Red Son’s father.
The back of the box shows us the play feature of the set. One interesting feature is you can hold the jet like a gun and shoot. The shooting power of this gun is quite strong so I would suggest not to reload it whenever it is played by kids as they may be trigger happy and shoot sensitive areas like the eye.
The legendary mountain that trapped Demon Bull King under. The staff is the key to free the Bull but one needs to be worthy to be able to lift that staff. The story sounds similar to the “hammer” tale somewhere in Norse mythology. The mountain is small but quite neat and nicely designed especially the small fountain of flowing water.
Bag 1. This is the base of the jet. The red Technic part is the trigger that will push the end of the projectile arrow which will release the bullet in a forward direction.

6301397 Wave Rounded Large (Flame) with Marbled Trans-Black Pattern in trans orange. This part was released since 2020 but has only appeared in 4 other sets which 3 of them are monkie kid series.
Front view of the jet. Metal beard’s beard part is a very brilliant piece to use here as the windshield of the cockpit. We rarely see LEGO sets featuring a so curved and rounded shape and the designer nailed it by making the front of the jet a perfect circle. The fire projectiles at the side also added much vivid action to the jet as well.
Top view of the jet. Aside from being fiery hot, this jet resembles the shape of the Chinese word bull 牛 or one can say they are the horns of the bull. The metal beard’s beard is also a plus point in adding details into the cockpit.
Monkie kid. Finally we get an ‘exclusive’ Monkie Kid here in this wave. The torso jacket is different from the other set and he gets a headset surrounding his neck here. However, his facial expressions are repeated and its the same with the one from 80018 Monkie Kid’s Cloud Bike. There will be a compiled photo of all the Monkie Kid minifigures in this wave in my last review of this wave which is the 80018 Monkie Kid’s Cloud Bike, stay tuned.
Bob. A cute villain. Finally a different villain other than spiders. I love this minifigure very much! Although they are vast and common in the cartoon, I think this one is very well designed! The minifig is quite common but the helmet is really well designed and detailed with the gold ring on the nose. The torso is also well printed with the word bull on the chest and I love the metal pipes which extended to the back of the torso. However these minions are faceless and only trans red head inside the helmet. The fire launcher is also well built with a red bottle of fuel under the gun.
Red Son. He is quite a nice Minifigure as he has a fiery hair piece with printing on it. As he likes to play with fire, it is not surprising that he has scars on his face. He comes with his sunglasses and a big smiley face as his alternate facial expression. His torso is different from the suit in 80023. He is wearing a necklace with an amulet on it. The mechanical arm is a device he used to pick up the magical staff to free his father in the animation.
The final build of the set. The good guy is outnumbered here! Thus the Demon Bull King will be finally freed by his son and his minion.
I give this set a 4.8/5.0 score as the design of the fiery Jet is very nice with those rounded parts and resembles a gun. The design of the mini mountain is simple yet effective. This set is priced at USD34.99 with a parts count of 299 pieces alongside with 3 Minifigures. The minifigures are mostly repeats of this wave, only with different torsos. However we still get a common yet detailed Bob with his backpack full of flammables.
