LEGO CITY fans! A hitherto planned but unreleased LEGO CITY set, 60278 Crooks Hideout Raid which was teased in a LEGO FRIENDS manual as part of the 2021 lineup, has been confirmed by LEGO to be cancelled. The following is their official statement on the matter.
Unlike the Boeing V-22 Osprey set which was nixed at the very last minute last year, the decision to cancel this set was likely made at a slightly earlier stage so it’s probable that no sets were distributed to retailers.
We wonder if the humongous life-sized brick built dynamite or maybe even controversial/stereotyped names of the crooks was the offending part that triggered this decision. I guess we’ll never know unless we get some insider news.
For now, it will only live on as an interesting tidbit for LEGO history buffs and also at the back of the instruction manuals that were distributed with sets (and digitally)
