Lego has recently announced the official set for Old Fishing Store.
Previously focusing on smaller sets with an approximate <$80USD price point, Lego has decided to change it up in 2017 with a $120USD set in the Saturn V and this $150USD set. Much has changed between the submission by Robert Bontenbal (RobenAnne) but the charm is largely retained.
Gone are the tiled flooring and an exposed baseplate kinda simulates the granules of the sand on a beach. The addition of minifigures and seagulls adds life to the whole build and I’m glad they made those changes.
All the changes seem to come with a price and what a price it is. $149.99 USD is the listed price once it is released on the 1st of September 2017.

The negative news about this set based on early reports of those who have seen it in the flesh during the recent Lego Fan Media Days held in Billund are that some stickers exist. (Usually Ideas sets feature all printed elements) However, those stickers are essentially embellishments and can be easily ommited as they are for some signs on the doors.
It looks like we’ll be getting a few printed 1×1 post-it notes tiles and 2×1 printed boxes of packed hooks.
The Lego community seems to be genuinely excited with this release from they day it was greenlit by the Ideas review team as the first “modular sized” set to be approved and it seems that this will be the second Lego Ideas set of 2017 that will receive universal acceptance rather than the niche sets of 2016 like the Maze, Caterham or the Yellow Submarine.

Climb the ladder to the top of the watchtower and look through the telescope to enjoy the view. Then relax and read the newspaper in the office. Just make sure the cat or seagulls don’t eat the freshly caught fish hanging outside!
The Old Fishing Store is ideal for display and role-play, this model has 2 removable roofs, an opening back wall in the shop for easy access, 4 minifigures, cat and 3 seagull figures, as well as loads of other cool details and elements to fire up the imagination.
